Yes - certain types of cover (such as Life, TPD, and Income Protection insurance) can be funded via Superannuation. This may make premiums more manageable. Your Consultant will explain which options are available and how they work.
No - while we’re based in Melbourne, we help clients all across Australia. Our consultations are done by phone or video, making the process convenient no matter where you live.
That’s fine - many of our clients come to us with existing policies. We can:
Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance pays a lump sum if illness or injury leaves you permanently unable to work, as defined in your policy. Definitions differ between insurers, for example 'own occupation' and 'any occupation', so the policy wording matters. TPD cover can often be held inside or outside super, although 'own occupation' definitions generally can't be held inside super.
Trauma (critical illness) insurance pays a one-off lump sum if you're diagnosed with a condition covered by your policy, such as certain cancers, a heart attack or a stroke, that meets the policy's definition. Income protection pays a monthly benefit that replaces part of your income while you can't work because of illness or injury, after a waiting period and for a set benefit period. They cover different things, and some people hold both.
Stepped premiums are recalculated each year based on your age, so they start lower and generally rise over time. Level premiums are based on your age when the cover starts, so they start higher but don't rise just because you get older. Both can still change, for example if the insurer reprices or you have inflation increases on your cover. Some level premium policies switch to stepped premiums at a set age, so check the policy terms.
Key person insurance protects a business against the financial impact of losing someone it relies on, such as an owner or a top performer, through death, TPD or trauma. The benefit is paid to the business to help with things like lost revenue, recruitment or repaying debt.
Buy/sell insurance funds an agreement between business owners. If an owner dies, becomes totally and permanently disabled or, depending on the agreement, suffers a serious illness, the insurance provides the money for that owner's share to be bought, so the remaining owners keep the business and the departing owner or their estate is paid. It works alongside a written buy/sell agreement, usually prepared by a lawyer.
